This post has nothing to do with the summit, but everything to do with Radical Self-Expression. I went on Facebook to see what my tribe over at EverydayFeminism.com was up to, when I saw a post from another one of my tribeswomen, Sabriya Simon. She’s a photographer, yogi, and all-around radical selfie, based in Kingston, Jamaica, and she had recently shot an interview for a friend of hers. That friend, Tamara Thomas, is a dancer/choreographer who infuses ChoreoPoetry into her work. Yes, ChoreoPoetry–don’t you LOVE it?!?
I know most of you who read my blog are based in the U.S. and Canada, but if you have any friends or family in Jamaica, please share this with them. I’m sharing it with you because as I watched the video, I saw a woman who was risking expression by creating art that fit her unique needs and flow. I honor that, and part of how I turn honor into action is by sharing. That said, please watch and share the video below, then check out Sabriya’s photography on Tumblr.
